How to print a calendar

Paper size, margins, fit-to-page, ink-saver settings, and PDF vs PNG — so your free printable actually fits the page.

1. Pick the right file

  • PDF — best for desktop print dialogs and consistent fonts.
  • PNG — handy for preview, annotation apps, or when PDF viewers misbehave.
  • For planning drafts, start with the classic black & white monthly template.

2. Paper & orientation

Downloads target US Letter (8.5×11 in). A4 works if you enable “fit to printable area.” Portrait is default for monthly sheets; landscape templates are labeled in the monthly gallery.

3. Margins that don’t clip

  • Prefer “Actual size” only when your printer’s non-printable margin is small.
  • If edges cut off, switch to Fit / shrink to printable area and turn borderless off unless you know your printer handles it.
  • Disable “Headers and footers” in the browser when printing the weekly on-page grid.

4. Save ink

  • Grayscale + draft/economy mode for classroom stacks.
  • Skip color-modern until the final wall copy.
  • Reuse the blank undated sheet when weekdays don’t matter yet.

FAQ

What paper size should I use?

US Letter (8.5×11 in) is the default for It's Calendar downloads. A4 works if you choose “fit to printable area” in your printer dialog.

Why is my calendar cut off at the edges?

Turn off “fit to page” only if margins are already safe; otherwise enable fit-to-printable-area and disable borderless unless your printer supports it cleanly.

Which template uses the least ink?

Choose the classic black-and-white monthly template, print in grayscale, and use draft/economy mode for planning drafts.
